czlantz join:2010-07-11 Fullerton, CA | Is there a dry loop offering in SoCal AT&T territory yet? I see that someone asked this question back in April, but here we are in July 2010, and I'll ask it again...does DSLX offer a dry loop service in Orange County AT&T territory yet? If not, any ETA?
Thanks. |

Other than our ADSL2+ options we don't have an option for dry loop DSL in the AT&T footprint to date. If you factor the higher cost of the AT&T retail dry loop product with our lower cost and an approximate $10-15 local land line, the rates end up about the same though.

czlantz join:2010-07-11 Fullerton, CA | Thanks for your response. I'm not quite sure what ADSL2+ is, but I'm happy with my 3000/512 DSL, which runs on my home phone line. The problem is that I have this Ooma thing sitting on my desk gathering dust, and I'm trying to figure out how to keep everything I already have (i.e., DSLX and same phone number over Ooma), while eliminating the $40/month AT&T phone bill. So I think I've come up with a plan, but I'd appreciate any feedback as to what I might be overlooking. BTW-it's interesting that AT&T refuses to share its dry loop and fiber toys with DSLX, especially since it sued a cable company in August 2009 that refused to share its HD sports programming with AT&T's U-Verse. Anyway, here's my plan:
1. Order a second phone line for my home, putting it on the cheapest plan. 2. Ask DSLX to move my service to the new number (renew contract for 12 months) 3. Connect Ooma, port current phone number to Ooma. 4. Use new phone number as backup line into Ooma. 5. Enjoy $25-30/month savings.
What do you guys think? |
