 | Need to Enable Ping- Buffalo Wireless Router: WHR-HP-G54 In order to access line quality testing I need to temporarily make my router firewall respond to a ping from this site. I was able to do that with my old router, but this one has me stumped. I have searched the manual and menus and can only find how to ping an IP address. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

 | Upgrade the firmware to Tomato and the whole universe turns from Black to White. |

| reply to jeteasy #1 In the router go to Advanced -> Diagnostics -> System Info.
#2 It will tell if the router is in Router Mode or some other mode (for example, Access Point mode).
#3 At »whatismyipaddress.com/ there is an IP Address.
#4 If you do not see the same IP Address in the router with the router in Router mode, please tell us what the brand and model of the modem is.
#5 Only if step 4 is true: In the router go to Advanced -> Network Config -> IP Filter.
#6 Click on Add/Delete Basic Rules.
#7 For the rule called, Block Ping from WAN click on the pause button.
#8 Click on apply.

 | Thanks Full Power and aefstoggaflm for your replies. I will load Tomato as from what I have read it is a better system. Both answers were more than I could hope for. I tried aefstoggaflm's suggestions and could only go to step 4 as my IP address is different than one in my router. I will load Tomato now.
Thanks |
