[TWC] [Rochester] Slow load speeds for past few weeks

Alright, so for the past few weeks (maybe even over a month now) my download speeds for youtube videos(and videos sites of that kind) and pictures have been snail slow. They used to load in a seconds, pictures wouldn't even seem to load, would just display. I can't watch youtube videos without it buffering several times. I have to pause the video and wait for it to load (sometimes up to 10-15 minutes depending on length of video). And websites sometimes take a few tries to even load, other times it sits with "waiting for *site*" for a few seconds before even actually loading.

My pings are fine to sites, downloading via bit torrent maxes out my connection like normal. Standard HTTP downloads seem to be slow too now. Big sites like download.com I get crappy speeds from when I used to get 75%+ of my bandwidth. I used to get a constant 7-8mbps from OVH servers (in France) but now only get 50kb/s (sometimes more during non-peak hours). I figured the OVH might of been a routing issue, but I doubt it now since youtube videos take forever to buffer.

I've tried talking to TWC, but they can't do jack about it because their speed test(Using their speed test sites of course which work fine unlike any others) and ping tests all come out "Normal" and since they follow retard scripts, there is no reason to look into it.

Ive tried changing my DNS Servers (Verizon and Google) but doesn't help. Reset my modem/router several times. Connected directly to my modem. Nothing has helped. Tried different browsers (Opera, Chrome, Firefox).

Has anyone else been experiencing this or is it just me?

Edit: I just checked the network status page of Rochester and pretty much every area has planned maintenance Macedon, Brockport, Walworth, Perinton, Brighton, and Rochester all ranging from the 15th to the 27th.
And two places have "Unplanned event/outage" - Brockport and Greece (I'm from greece). Which are listed the 12th and the 14th. But this issue has been longer than that.
Hopefully these maintenance's are going to fix the issue, they are taking their sweet ass time but whats new.

Edit2: Just saw this thread - »[TWC] Stuff stops loading Apparently there were issues over in Ohio that were fixed, hopefully these will be fixed too.

Edit3: Wee edits. I just tried to do a speed test with speakeasy, and im getting an extremely unstable connection from 1-3mbps, usually around 1.5mbps and bounces up to 3mbps then immediately back down. Oh Joy, problems seem to be getting worse now. Used to get 3-4mbps before.

No problems here. Just played a few YouTube videos in 720p and 1080p, no interruptions to speak of.

Matt, I am trying to figure out what your problem is. what I gathered from your post is that.

1. You ping fine so no latency issues.
2. You download maxed out so your bandwidth is fine.
3. Your speed test to the roadrunner speed test is fine.

Are you complaining about some servers that at are several thousand miles away? If that is the case that wouldn't be an issue that roadrunner can fix.

Now this is the internet and that is a shared network it could be that some site like youtube (which often has had bandwidth problems) do not always preform well but that isn't Roadrunners problem. roadrunner can only control the equipment that they own nothing more.

No. My problem is youtube videos load a small portion. It stops loading. Loads some more. stops. Does that for several minutes untill video is loaded. Its been doing this for WEEKS. It never used to do that.

The only download I can max out is bit torrent. I cannot max *ANY* Speed test site out when I used to. Speakeasy, fastest server is 1.5mbps with jumps to 2-3mbps and back down instantly. I get a max of 2.4mbps at speedtest.net using Rochester,NY Speedtest (I used to always get max speed at it). Any other test outside of the area is 1mbps or less.

I was getting 3-4mbps downloads at speed test sites last week, its getting progressively worse. The reason RR Support wont help me is because they make me use *THEIR* speed test site which is located directly on their network, so of course there is no issue with speed there. Everywhere else though, I've tried at least a half dozen test sites and well over 3 dozen servers, gives me less than 3mbps. That's not right.

You're right about speeds from servers thousands of miles away. But when I used to get 8mbps(via FTP) from them all the time for over a year, then suddenly only get 50kb/s from them at the same time when youtube videos start buffering a butt load of times, I'm going to assume that's NOT a coincidence.

HTTP Downloads from download.com get me 150kb/s MAX and its up and down, nothing is stable. Single connection downloads such as HTTP downloads are EXTREMELY flaky and unstable. download.com used to get me near max bandwidth, 75% or better.

And its not just youtube videos, its *ANY* video website. As stated before, single connection downloads/tranfers are unstable and slow. Multiple connection transfers such as bit torrent maxes out. These sites aren't having bandwidth issues, I never had buffer issues before on big sites like Youtube, break, and google videos, etc. Now I do, and its been this way for weeks.

Also, web pages take a while to load sometimes pinging out several times, I have to hit refresh several times to even get it to load. This isn't all the time, but it does happen a lot more than usual.

A few of my friends also say they are having issues past few weeks too, so I guess its not just me.

The reason RR has you use their speed test site which is locate on their network, is because RR only has control over THEIR network and they have NO control over the rest of the Internet.

Lol. So connection outside of RoadRunners network has nothing to do with them when EVERY connection sucks? No. Thats not right. There is something wrong with RoadRunner themselves. When every site/server, no matter where its located EXCEPT the Network Im connected to has speed/connection uses. Its obviously a local network issue being Roadrunner.

There is an issue between outside connections to the network. There is no issue between me and the local RR network. Since noone else is having problems (even other people on RR in other states or other cities) means its a local network issue. So there is something wrong with the local network switch/connection.

Edit: Misread your post, didn't mean to make that seem like I was attacking you.

Can you post a couple of traces going off the TW Network? If there was a local switch issue it would be obvious.

Yeaa.... now the main server test site is shitting out on me.

Gonna try talking to online support now, see if they're any better than call center.
