Re: Antec Twelve Hundred or DF-85? Aren't those little fans loud or annoying? |

No problems so far: » www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a···-ProductThe Corsair Obsidian I am using right now had a 4 bay swap cage with a backplane. I don't think the price for this case is justifiable for your use, however. The reviews on Newegg aren't great but it's looks usable at least. Do you know what the HDD size capacity is that these support? I couldn't find anything indicating that |

apobull join:2001-05-03 Manchester, MD | reply to apobull For any of these hot swap enclosures to be usable, does the motherboard need to support hot-swap functionality? I notice that some enclosures (Icy Dock to name an example) explicitly note that the motherboard must support the hot-swap function while others don't mention one way or the other. I can't recall if my motherboard (MSI MS-7514) provides that support and don't have the manual handy to confirm. With my luck, the answers are probably yes (to the M/B support question) and no (my M/B) doesn't support that feature. While this would make the decision somewhat moot, I do plan to replace the motherboard at some future point. If nothing else, any hot-swap enclosures I purchase now would work in the future. |

 | Not sure about the other chipsets but the Intel Rapid Storage software allows for hotswap. I believe the feature is also enabled in AHCI mode. |

apobull join:2001-05-03 Manchester, MD | reply to apobull Since it would be preferable to have hot-swap bays, it would appear that I need to focus on cases that have a plethora of 5.25 bays that I could then drop hot-swap cages into such as the one suggested by Chrno. To that end, Antec's 1200 seems appropriate to circle back to given that I could go the route of 9 5.25" + 3 3.5" bays or a full 12 5.25" bays. Cooling seems plenty as well, particularly if I add some of the optional fans. Thoughts? |
