Re: [E-Mail] smtp.rcn.com suddenly not working for me Hey I got a note back from Chris who runs our email platform. You should turn on 'smtp authentication' and that will probably resolve your issue. Without having auth turned on your likely running into a restriction of some form or another.
I'm responding back to the thread because well we'd like everyone who uses a mail client to do smtp auth 
For OSX (sorry can't point it out on windows if in mail preferences select the RCN email account (or the others for the other domains) and select the bottom smtp server list and "edit list"
Hit the advanced button. "use default ports" auth type password username password
