Re: [Other] Asterisk/openwrt on Seagate Dockstar

said by OddballHero :

I have gotten Asterisk 1.6 and FreePBX 2.8 to work on the stock busybox 1.7 using optware, but I also believe that OpenWRT is actually the Ideal platform to optimize the installation on Dockstars.
Excellent. If you can write up some HOWTO doc to port FreePBX 2.8 to a DockStar and post it in this forum on a new thread, I am sure owners of a DockStar who like to have their device to host a FreePBX 2.8 will appreciate that.

Since it was Optware, already done at »www.nslu2-linux.org/ under optware/asterisk packages. I think they also have SIP Express Router (SER) also.

I just wanted to note that this thread inspired me to get Asterisk_ The Future of Telephony and to set up a little virtual machine (bare-bones Ubuntu Server) to play with * a bit. Unfortunately Dockstars aren't available at less than twice this price here in Canada, and some are gouging as much as $100+, so virtualization's the only viable option. The only piece of hardware that I could run OpenWRT on is 233/16.. Weaksauce

From their web site FAQ:
"# Do you ship outside the United States?
No. Our sincerest apologies to all of our Ben’s Outlet brethren who live internationally, but at this time we only ship within the United States."

Edit: Tigerdirect.ca has it at $37.99
I bought few from Futureshop a while ago at $29.95 but now I don't see it on their web site, maybe they cleared all dockstar

No worries.. Finally compiled it and started configuring it under a lean virtual Lucid server.

Who makes such a hardware called Weaksauce?

Looks like Asterisk 1.8 just came out (at least officially). Time to give that a try.
