i'm not sure what Turbo Evo is. i5's have Turbo mode which is on by default in most motherboards. Did you set this in the BIOS or in Windows? many boards come with an overclocking utility that runs in windows.

I solved it tho. New pc, new problems lol. It is a program of asus, that helps to overclock automatically. it overclocked i5 750 to 3.7, but it was running hot because of intel stock cooler.

So i had to go back to defaults until i get after market cooler, but program had not such a option.

I uninstalled it but still cpu-z showed 3.7 instead of 2.6 hgz. So i just went to bios and changed parameters and now its 2.6. However still idling at around 45-47c, and under gaming load reaches around 77c, and prime95 brings it to high 80's. I have antec 900 case, plus the side fan is changed to a better one and is pointed at cpu's cooler, so there is plenty of airflow, however still running hot. Thinking about buying zalman's cnps10x extreme, and zalman's stg1 thermal paste. AS5 is not really available in my country. I think zalman extreme and stg1 is a pretty nice choice... isnt it? Im just wondering if cnps10x will fit in my antec 900 case and wont block any ram and so on, on my p7p55d-e deluxe mother board.

there's an option in the program to turn it off. it's default settings are either OFF or a multiple of OC settings. There should have been an OFF button somewhere. The OC settings also increase voltages, which is why your temps are still high after uninstalling and changing frequency in the BIOS. look in the BIOS for voltage settings and make sure theyre on AUTO

yeah, i changed it to auto, its running at 1.2 something volts, however it is still idling at 45-49C. Room temps are 20-27C, during the day, and lower at night of course.
This is newly built pc, not even 2 months old. Yeah it has intel stock cooling, but the guy that built it used some different thermal paste, not intels, so it suppose to run cooler.
Now there is another problem, MY step father lol. I dont know what a heck is wrong with him, i changed everything to stock last night, today i wake up, check pc (it is his pc), and he overclocked it again with auto function to 3.7GHz. Idling at 60c. I dont even wanna try prime95, because i know after 10 mins of prime95 it will reach 90+. How do i get to his head that high temps will lessen the life of cpu? i believe that for 750, the max suggested temp by intel is 72.7c.

Some boards allow you to set thermal limits in the BIOS. If yours does, go in and set the thermal limit at something like 75 or 80c. If your dad wants to OC with the stock HSF set it to shut down before damage is done.

If he won't listen, maybe he needs to fry the CPU to get the message.
