Re: [ps3] Standard DVD's on PS3

As others have said, the PS3's DVD upscaling is outstanding, and it's as close to HD as you'll get without blu-ray. I still cannot justify paying $25-30 for a blu-ray movie when the difference is so minimal on the PS3. It's upscaling capabilities really make blu-ray look like a rip-off.

Anyone who has ever asked me for my opinion on buying a blu-ray player, I have advised to just buy a PS3 and keep buying DVDs. Pretty soon physical media will be dead anyway so why waste time and money on another generation of it.

You need to shop around. I recently bought a nice blu-ray movie for $10. I see several on sale for $15-$20. As far as I'm concerned unless you're getting a massive special edition multi-disk (as in more than two) set you shouldn't buy a Blu-Ray movie for more than $20. Even then I hesitate when there are deals to be found.
