[AZ] SB6120 3-6 Reboots Daily

I purchased a Motorola SB6120 a month or so ago, I was having spurious reboots with my SB5100 and decided to upgrade to DOCSIS 3.0. Unforutnately I'm still having reboot issues with the SB6120. These reboots started about 4 months ago. I just got off of the phone with the Cox tech, they noticed the same reboot problems I have. Starting July 5th, it rebooted about 5 times a day. I've read the the firmware on my modem is known to have reboot issues. The tech wasn't very useful, nor were her suggestions. Can anyone provide any help?

i have same issue. I was told there is currently not a stable firmware version for this modem. I asked what modem is stable and I am awaiting an answer.

Re: [AZ] SB6120 Firmware Versions

»Cox HSI Forum FAQ »Who are the authorized Cox employees that provide support on this forum?

Here are your options, firmwares are known to behave differently on specific vendor's CMTS.

1.0.1.7 - Fast, but has rebooting, syncing issues
1.0.1.8 - Fast, but has rebooting, syncing issues, Cox doesn't have this FW to reflash if you change
1.0.2.0 - Not much has been reported about this FW
1.0.2.4 - More stable, but slow to very slow speed issues, »Re: SB6120 1.0.2.4 Speed Concerns
1.0.3.0 - Bricks Modems, Cox is not using
1.0.3.1 - Not much has been reported, but has unknown issues on certain vendor's CMTS, »Re: Any ETA on new 6120 Firmware?

So far as I know, 1.0.2.0 has speed problems similar (perhaps identical) to those of 1.0.2.4.

I also had rebooting issues with the 10.0.2.4 firmware, and asked a Cox Tech to update my firmware to 10.0.3.1. Thankfully my node supported it, and I haven't had any rebooting issues since.

Well first thing I notice is your only locking onto one channel. Is your area DOCSIS 3 compatible? Second, I notice your transmit levels are a bit low. And 3, they have logs. Anything you can see, they can see, and more.

1.0.3.0 - Bricks Modems, Cox is not using
I just made the jump from Comcast to Cox. I had purchased my SB6120 so I took it with me when I changed service.

Comcast has been using the 1.0.3.0 firmware without issue and in fact I'm using the 1.0.3.0 right now on Cox. It works perfectly fine and I haven't had a problem with it.

Perhaps your CMTS vendor is not one that has an issue with 1.0.3.0 or you might be in for a surprise one day. Firmwares are known to behave differently on specific vendor's CMTS. (»Re: SB6120 speed issue?) Cox is not recommending 1.0.3.0 and never deployed it. I would PM CoxTech1 »/profi ··· e/621911 and ask him for his opinion.
