Canadian laws protecting companies worse than US.

Canadian laws written for big business. Unless the law in Canada has changed an employee of a company cannot leave an employer and open a competitive business for one year after they leave. The founders of Mitel a Canadian Company that manufactures telephone systems, manufactured lawn mowers for at least a year after the company opened. They then began offering PABX Systems.

Hey, at least they have health care provided in the cost of their taxes!

... by all means, if you like Canadian health care, please move up there. Let us know how well it works out for you. Enjoy your 6 month waits for necessary tests, denials on care that isn't deemed "necessary" by the system, and so on.. but you're right, you're taxed for health care.

Dude, there are many people up there that I know that would rather have what we do and would love to see their "health care" system get overhauled.

I really hate when people in America look at other countries for answers.. they ALWAYS look at one piece of a big pie and want just that.. You can't just take Canadian health care and plop it down in the U.S. economy just like any other "system" in any other country..

Uh, yes you can. The process has already been started. And the only ones that stood in its way were the large insurance corporations. The public-at-large would have been very happy with the proposed packages.

And there are not long waits for necessary tests in Canada. Where do you get your info from? And do you really think US insurance companies are not denying care to policy holders. Har har har! That is a good one!

Where do I get my information from? Really?

I have many MANY Canadian friends.. a family friend who helped raised the kids in my family (while on the farm) lives in Canada. Her mammogram was scheduled out for almost 6 months. Yup! That good ol' lump in her breast wasn't important enough to get something sooner than that - where as here in the U.S., they're taken in fairly quickly! MANY of my friends up there have told me similar stories over and over. It's also pretty well known as well - even CNN, that all so liberal news media outlet in the U.S., quotes the same statistics.. I can go on, but it's not necessary. But that's where I get my information.

And no, no you "can't"... while they are certainly TRYING to just plop it down in the U.S., by doing so, you WILL put this country into even MORE instability financially. The fact remains that when you look at the overall picture in the U.S. of those who do NOT have insurance, its a relatively small percentage of those that DO have insurance. But, instead of dealing with those that DON'T have insurance, they, (the dems) felt that they needed to take away from an OVERWHELMINGLY majority of people that DO have it and start tearing down what IS a good health care system. If you have a small cut in hand, you don't need to cut the arm off to fix it.

Do you really think that the U.S. is made of money? Are you one of those people that believe that the government has endless money to spend? You do know that all these bills come out of your and my paycheck right? It's ALWAYS so easy for people to say "hey, Uncle Sam,... GIMME!!" and there's always a dishonest politician ready to give "the voters" (and there is a difference between voters and citizens) what they're asking for just to keep their happy-asses in their office.

The only ones that stand in the way are not the "large" insurance companies.. not one bit - not sure where YOU are getting your information from. They're not FIXING health care, they're reforming an ENTIRE system that doesn't necessarily need fixing.. it just needs tweaking. By the way, today, they're going to be getting the public option soon, something that was said was off the table. Nice huh? Honestly in politics. But there are more people that want to stand in the way of this healthcare crap being shoved down our throats.. I'm one of them. I'm not "large insurance" (but I'll be happy to be accused of being THAT too now) I'm not "big business" either.. I just don't agree with it because financially it makes no sense in the OVER ALL picture for THIS country. There are other ways they can help the small group of people that need health coverage get it with out causing ...... um...

... small business (the foundation of US business) a lot of expense they can't afford - quite honestly, large business SHOULD want this)

... the IRS being granted INCREDIBLE new powers

... more government spending to manage this new system..

I can go on.

What I AM is someone with good health care through my spouses employer, I'm someone that runs a couple of small businesses that would go out of business with this new system. And someone that doesn't agree with the IRS one bit in the powers they have and will get.

But, by all means, enjoy more government bankruptcy - it's what you live for, I can tell. You don't say a single thing that supports any thing other than "I want what canada has" and you don't even THINK about the impact over all - which is what my point is on Canada to begin with.. it's ALWAYS easy to see what someone else has and want JUST that with out taking EVERYTHING else in the entire eco-system which makes up a country in a whole.

If you look at the parking lots at Buffalo, NY's area hospitals, you will find numerous cars with Ontario plates.
If their health care was that great, why are they coming across the border for care?

... anyone been to the Mayo in MN? .. another border state?

Even HCMC in the Twin Cities has a good amount of our Canadian friends there anytime I've been there.

We just like to cross the border to get cheaper drugs - we don't go there for their care... for a reason.

Where the hell are your sources?

I don't care what you have experienced, please look outside of your own world, do some research and come back and tell me if you feel this way aftewards.

Ahhh, I should have noticed who I was responding to before wasting my keystrokes - fiberguy - the guy who never met an anti-consumer policy he didn't love, and has dilusional ideals.

We all know you wake up to Fox News to get your talking points, but c'mon, Palin isn't from Canada, so she doesn't count as your source.

Your health care is only as good as your insurer makes it. When they start denying claims, raising your premiums or dropping you due to expensive bills, you'll be screaming your head off along with the millions of other Americans that have actually tried to use their policies.

Funny thing about your sources... one of my Canadian clients who grosses over a million a year is thinking of moving to L.A. But he's very hesitant due to losing access to Canadian health care and being subjected to corporate health care in the United States. Sounds like you're just regurgitating the Fox News stories and claiming them to be your own experience again.

I agree with you, I work at a doctor's office and I hate dealing with these companies. Most insurance companies try to tell doctor's offices that they are only going to pay 80%.

80%!!!

That's almost as low as Medicaid!!

And these people pay almost $1000 a month for insurance!!!!
