Why the surprise? If you look at dslreports speed archive, »/archive, Canadian ISPs are consistently at the top. Presently 6 out of the top 8, including the top 3, are Canadian. Rogers, which consistently was in the middle of the pack, has climbed quite a bit to claim the 7th spot and even Bell has come up a bit in the list. |

Not surprised that we're ahead of the States...surprised we're ahead of a couple European countries.
Although I am not going to complain about my internet...it does what it says it will do...so 'nuff said. Just wished we didn't have to pay so much!

I suppose you mean Germany and the UK. Even though BT is promoting a huge fiber rollout, most of it is fiber-to-the-cabinet and forecasts are that the UK won't reach 20% FTTH penetration until 2020. Meanwhile my Bell sources tell me that, at least in Toronto, we will have 50 Mb/s service pretty soon and at least 100 Mb/s with a FTTH rollout within 3 years. |
