What locked up? You are not saying what you are testing..
The entire machine, just locks up, no mouse movement, nothing

I don't think this could be the problem, but let me throw it out.

Here are the specs and let me know if this PSU could be a cause.

1 SATA ODD
2 x 74gb Raptors
2 x 500gb Seagate
X-FI Pro Fatality
4 Port SATA card
1 x GTX260

And a PC Power and Cooling 750

Could this be a potential PSU problem? Maybe not enough power? MY UPS, with it's front LCD, says I am drawing no more then 300W on load.

Maybe you're not getting enough voltage on the 12v rail
or it could be the ram, I'd try memtest first before swapping out the psu

Ran Memtest86 last night and it said it has no issues =\ I am leaning towards the board, as everything worked perfectly prior to changing those 3 parts

The machine probably stopped responding because Prime95 is pegging the cpu..that's what it does. To let users test overclocks and temps.

How long does it usually take to finish?

I honestly don't know..it depends on what settings you picked, I personally only ran it for like 15mins or so.

Your machine still could of crashed though..I'm just guessing on what could of happened.

It was a bad idea to do that though through remote..hopefully your cpu is not overclocked..could burn it up or maybe not as I think cpus will blue screen when pushed beyond their max temp.

Your remote program whatever you are using probably crashed ..(or maybe the computer itself crashed) hard to say.

If the cpu is stock then probably your remote program died since Prime95 is taking up all the cpu cycles. Don't know what else could of happened.

But then..you were talking about your computer locking up before I even mentioned Prime95..

What kind of cpu temps do you get at idle and at load? Use Core Temp or CPUID.

Last time I checked in the BIOS they were around 40-50 degrees.

Swapped out mobo, hasn't locked up yet. So it must have been mobo issue. I played tf2 last night, while boinc was pegging all 6 cores, my game was hardly affected.

Color me impressed! Still need to get another 2gb of memory though

I would trade the 2GB in and go with 8 , 12 or 16GB RAM, using 4GB sticks.

Well, I plan on adding more, I just couldn't afford it at that particular moment. Plus, compusa will charge me a 15 percent restocking fee. I plan on putting another 2gb in. I think 4gb is more than sufficient for my machine. it's just a gaming/cruncher.

Plus, 8gb+, gets very pricey.

Bottom line, with today's prices on CPU's, you'd be making a mistake to buy anything less then a quad core, Intel or AMD. Six core chips only excel in intensively threaded apps such as video encoding and heavy multitasking, having said that, they will perform just as good if not better then a dual or quad in games.

I had a Q6600 prior to this, with the new board i swapped out, it's running like a beast!
