Verizon DSL → Westell 7500 drops connection

I have a westell 327w A90 modem, but switched to westell 7500 modem because more up to date security features. I never lose connection w/ 327w, but lose connection with 7500 modem 5 to 6 times a day. Is there some other configuring i need to do to this modem or what?

What updated security features are on the 7500 that aren't on the 327?

The A90 version does not offer wpa, wpa2 encryption mainly.

Sure it does, and has for several years. You just need to update the firmware.

I've tried to upgrade the firmware from inside the diagnostics tab inside the router configuration, but it does not give the option to do so anymore. #1 where else can i go to get the firmware update

#2. That has been a complaint from many users, and there really hasn't been a fix I can recall.
