Re: Unoffical Frontier FAQHello,
Unfortunately, a Frontier employee sent a DMCA Takedown notice to my web host for a document that was provided to me publicly on the DSLReports forum. I'm working with the host now to get this dealt with.
Frontier - If you have a problem with a document hosted, please don't wait 4 years to report the problem. My e-mail is also not monitored 24/7 - if you need something from the FAQ taken down, please PM me here. Or if you have information to contribute, I could appreciate the help, having an official record of what's cool and what's not.
To put it on the record as well - Frontier is the only company which has ever sent a Takedown notice to me on any service. Obviously doing their job respecting their copyright. I'll get the affected file deleted as soon as the host restores access to the server. |

DSL] [MODEM] Frontier Netgear D2200D Modem Keeps Resetting (Fix)My new Frontier Netgear D2200D modem caused me endless grief by resetting itself and power cycling minute or so. Turning off Wi-Fi stopped the resetting. Additionally, while trying to join the Wi-Fi network the device reported "incorrect password" when the password was correct.
The cause and fix were posted elsewhere by FrontierTech and mkrasz and I thank them.
Solved: at this time this modem has a "feature" that causes the modem to reset if the Wi-Fi SSID is changed to begin with one or more numbers. For example an SSID of 598-1 causes the resetting. When I changed the SSID to all letters the resetting stopped instantly.
Hope this helps,
Rick |

I have not had any issues with .12, working just fine. |

Hank what have you decided about 6.05.12? A keeper?
If not, can FW 6.05.02 be reverted-to successfully just by following the "update" procedure? |

Not certain, I loaded it in two modems and it appears to have some issues. Modem is slow to recover, and making the PPP connection is problematic.
Downloaded firmware from site again and reloaded, appears I may have had a corrupted download. |

Any idea what this updated firmware addresses? |

There was a update release recently for the Netgear 7550 (Frontier Branded Model B90-755044-15). I had done some digging on the web and found the link posted over here. Back when I was looking for a way to change the DNS. » forum1.netgear.com/showt ··· ?t=77514This was for the 6.05.02 release. I check this Index occasionally to see if Frontier would update it. And they did. 6.05.02 can still be downloaded from » seansite.mooo.com/fronti ··· nt/7550/ (Thanks Smith6612, I have had your Faq bookmarked since you had it under the dyndns.org url and recently updated my bookmark to reflect your mooo.com link change) The newest release is 6.05.12 released back in May 2015. And so you do not need to search my first link, here is the link for the Frontier Index of/~firmware. (And if you do search it is midway down the page posted by user EDC3) » myplace.frontier.com/~firmware/ |

also from previous in the thread
192.168.254.254/redirect.asp click on the disable button on the screen. it will then return you to the modems main page.
older 7500 is the same except 192.168.1.1
older VZ model 192.168.1.1/Verizon/redirect.htm older action tech/VZ 192.168.1.1/Verizon/redirect.asp
will turn off the install wizard. the unit will default to VPI 0 VCI 35
westell 7500 and the Netgear 7550 will do bridge mode if you need it. ( it is easy)
Also both units can be a standalone router (turns off the dsl in it). E1 port becomes input..DSL light is off and in the internet light is on. Input can be a static IP or Dynamic
And a wifi hotspot (where other router is in charge and gives out IP's) The DHCP in modem gets turned off and you assign the unit a IP in you master router dhcp range
Just thought someone could use this. So instead throw out that extra modem you have around with a little programing it can be used for something else |

the action tech 2250 is great modem work with any kind of dsl...adsl2+,VDSL,Bonded,GDMT..etc
The USB port doesn't do anything it is off from actiontech..
But couple of things we here in WV have learned the hard way..
1. Turn off the auto resverison option in the DHCP (under advanced) or after 128 different devices it will stop giving out IPS's
2. This is the only modem we have currently that the firewall comes turned on from actiontech. just set it to OFF and then you will have no gaming issues or TCP IP traffic problems.
Also this modem like the netgear 7550 has well. Can do static IP and DHCP at the same time. (for business customer only). They both have the public lan option in advanced. (this is normally done by you local tech)
Hope this info helps |

Actiontec F2250, the new vdsl2/bonded/adsl+, modem/router that they are handing out. I'd be willing to contribute what I know and what I can figure out about this router. I'm still figuring out some things myself, like how to use the usb port for storage. No user manual came with this, which is odd, because they have been running the same firmware on it for two years...
Anyway just let me know you need from me. |

I just wanted to find out what all of the different settings on it mean. Some I'm not familiar with, like:
Advanced Wireless Options Beacon Interval: 100 ms (range:1-65535) DTIM Interval: 3 (range:1-255) Fragmentation Threshold: 2346 bytes (range:256-2346) RTS Threshold: 2346 bytes (range:0-2347)
What exactly is Frameburst mode, and why is it turned off by default?
What is High Performance mode, and what do the 3 options for it mean: 144 Mbps only, Up to 300 Mbps, and 300 Mbps only. |

What changes are you wanting to make to the 7550? |

The unofficial FAQ page is down. Wanted to take a look to see if there were any tips in there for configuring the 7550 modem. Just had Frontier DSL installed in PA & speeds are pretty abysmal. |

That is the only way to make this thread active again. It is time ladies and gentlemen to consider an official FAQ » FAQ Owners' FAQ |
