[DD-WRT] Anyone had stable router WRT54G v8.0 running DD-WRT?
Any recommended firmware versions I followed on DD-WRT official Wiki documentation for my specific router (peacock thread) with installation instructions resulted in my router crashing often and frequent resets. I had to restore to original Linksys firmware to get it back working again.
There is a "stable" version do download from direct download page but its old and has lot of security issues. The newer versions, many of them which I tried (recommended versions) resulted in my router not working after few minutes from its start. The forum tells that the router database is very outdated.
The firmware versions I tried were micro-generic NEWD 13525 and 12548 and 13064. None worked too well so I reverted back to the original Linksys firmware.
I am trying to connect my Linksys router with my Cisco mini routers lab I use to study for my CCNA. And for this I need to seperate swiches into seperate vlans.
I of course ordered Cisco 2950 switch, but I have to wait. It was very difficult to get it. The store I ordered from is sourcing this switch for my order.
reply to chgo_man99 Im no dd-wrt "Guru" but I do use dd-wrt on my Linksys WRT300N v1.1 so I like to check in this forum from time to time because it seems to be dd-wrt friendly... As you said there is a stable version for yours but it is listed as SP1. If I remember correctly the SP1s were vulnerable to the exploit so if you roll back to SP1 I believe this is the work around. if you go back do the 30/30/30 reset before flashing again, if does make a difference
I would continue to post and search on the dd-wrt forum boards and be sure to follow the Peacock thread to ensure you get a good clean load of the firmware as the v8 is supported.
