Re: I like Sprint.... How do you know they roam off VZW towers ? They actually have their own network from work I know but I might be wrong. I actually get really good service in NY all over from sprint funny you say they suck. |

 | It's usually people who don't have Sprint who thinks Sprint has coverage issues (where Sprint claims to have coverage). My brother in Brooklyn had an old Sprint phone (before his Treo/Pre) with broken antenna and had no issues with Sprint in NYC and it didn't roam. I asked him if people he knows with VZW have better service and he said he couldn't tell the difference. He has no complaints with service. |

I drive Albany to Ottawa
I don't lose 3G service, roam 3G in Canada, pay nothing extra with data roaming on in Pre.
No loss of signal NYC - Quebec City
No loss of signal Albany - Bar Harbor, ME
NYC Metro area has amazing coverage as good as VZ.
Spring is second only to VZ in coverage, and they are pretty close.
People who have sprint, know.
It is true their CS used to suck, but it is above all now with call centers in the USA. My building is old and has poor cell service, they gave me a free AIRAVE with free service.
Never worry about minutes, data, or anything, roaming is free. -- This is not the greatest post in the world, no, this is just a tribute!

1 edit | reply to xenophon I have both actually. My personal phone is VZW and I work at a Sprint dealer so I take store phones with me when I get off and let me tell you service is horrible.
And since our store phones include every single feature....it's kind of annoying that when I'm using Sprint Navigation.....service goes out while driving a lot causing the GPS to be useless. |

I notice that it just drops to basic GPS if there is no location services. Other then that GPS works everywhere like any other GPS - not very detailed but gets you there, though with location services on you get all the fun stuff on there. IN QC it even pronounces the streets correctly instead of the robotic fail. -- This is not the greatest post in the world, no, this is just a tribute!

 | reply to Cheese said by Cheese I do have sprint, and I think they have coverage issues. [/BQUOTE :I've noticed issues with Sprint in parts of FL too, but only where Sprint does not claim to have good coverage. The point I was making is Sprint does have pretty good coverage where they claim to in most cases, like metro NYC. I often visit a friend who lives in a rural part of Brooksville, FL and I barely get a native signal, but the maps says it as a roaming area so should be expected. Am able to roam fine though so no complaints. You don't want Sprint where they don't claim to have good coverage. Looks like they aren't too strong in Naples so should be expected. |

I do drive there, and I can't say that in the 60 times a year I drive in and out of Brooklyn I desperately needed the internet in a tunnel that is underwater that is usually moving rather well (for NYC amazingly well). I have been on the phone through the whole tunnel a few times. -- This is not the greatest post in the world, no, this is just a tribute!

WHile I was on sprint for 9 years, not one of my phones ever worked in battery tunnel, I think one of my blackberries came close by occasionally latching onto verizon service, but it was not reliable. |

| reply to xenophon I have had a Sprint phone off and on since 1999 and used it in IL, IN, PA, MD and etc and not really had any issues where as I have used Tmobile (Only good area was Fort Wayne, IN Area), US Cellular (Only Central, IL), Verizon Wireless (PA/MD) and not really that impressed... |

 | reply to Cheese I drove from KC to Colorado Springs with my Sprint EV-DO data card and it only dropped the connection once. Didn't even roam once. No coverage problems here. |
