| Printer toner refill, question I was given a toner refill for my ML2010 because I helped someone with something. It came from monoprice. I've only printed about 5 pages so far, and they look perfect, but I read some reviews where they say that after a while the pages start to look bad, how long would that take to find out? -- Join Teams Helix and Discovery. No idea how toner could 'go bad' over time. |

 | reply to signmeuptoo Approximate page yield: 3,000 Pages
But depends on how you set your printer.. highest, mid, lowest(money saving when printing.) I think around the last 200 page left on it. I would think.. hmmmm |

I have not had good results with recycled/refilled toner. This is because I have mostly supported HPs and the toner cartridges normally contain the drum which gets worse with each refill. Provided the refill isn't leaking you should be fine. That was normally the issue I saw. We saved $50 on the cartridges and spent $400 on maintenance kits instead. -- When will the people realize that with DRM they aren't purchasing anything? |

I would not put too much concern into that, however, if this is an "all in one" toner/drum combo, I would not use refills...but, if it is working for you, and the print looks good, hey, you saved yourself some money! -- Deeds, not words |

 | reply to Kilroy I've had the same experience. I bought several remanufactured toner cartridges and found that they gave out much sooner than the maker said. I didn't count pages but I only got about 3 reams of paper (about 1,500 sheets) when it was rated at 2,500 pages. ControlP |

 | reply to PeteC2 I'd just keep printing with my fingers crossed. The problem with refilling toner cartridges is that the other parts continue to wear out and there's nothing you can do about them. I'd say getting a new cartridge might be a good bet when this one starts to have problems. ControlP |

Refill 2-3 times for $10 each time. I can usually get 1-2k pages on the original toner and then 3k or so on each refill.
Then when it stops working toss it and buy another. |

 | Agreed. My problem is that whenever I get close to toner powder, I make a big mess that takes forever to clean up. Controlp |

 | Good idea, but I know I'll come inside covered with the stuff, and it gets everywhere. Control P |

 | I also have had many problems with refilling my own cartridge or buy remanufactured ones. I always make a mess when pourin the new toner and wheil at first the prints look fine, they degrade quickly. I now only get the company's replacement cartridghes. To save money I buy hte high capacity cartridges, which helps a lot. ControlP |

 | reply to ControlP Take a look at this story about toner and modern printers. »www.itworld.com/hardware/122189/···-printer It's a real eye-opener. ControlP |

1 edit | reply to signmeuptoo I recently refilled my ML2010 and it was a piece of cake. Cost me 8 bucks to do it. What a bargain.
