[ Parts Check] GTX260 216Core vs GTX465

If I were to upgrade from my GTX260 216core GDDR3 896MB to a GTX465 GDDR5 1GB how big of a differance would it be?

basicly this

Re: [ Parts Check] GTX260 vs GTX465

I think you should revise your question to GTX260 216core to a GTX460. The 465 is slower when compared to the 1GB version of the 460 and it generates more heat.

ok I added more detail
the reason I'm asking is I currently have a GTX260 216Core because I decided not to get the GTX285 due to a new card being just over the horizen and not I think the 465 has stabilized where as the early 400's were getting bad press for over heating

so 2 possible outcomes
1. buy the GTX465 very soon
2. wait for the GTX600's

if the 465 is only a small upgrade I might not bother if tis a fairly good one then I might jump on it

As chrno said there is the newer 460 which is as good, or better, for a lower price.

Having said that I don't think either card is enough of an advance over the 260gtx to justify the cost.

What specific game and resolution are you having problems with?

not really having any trouble just figured I'd check if the mid range of the 400's was worth it yet

when I built the computer I did so with the intent to upgrade the video card if a worthwhile upgrade could be had in the 400's

but it's looking like I'll just wait for the 600's

Here is a cool site where you can compare cards next to each other has great links to tech reviews too.

thanks that helped
I was having trouble finding a review with both the 260 and the 465 to compare

looks like the 465 is on par or a little over the 285 which was the most powerfull single gpu back before the 400's
