Re: Sterling Heights, MI

Not sure what Blast really is here but I am shaped at 30/5 also. I'll take it.

Read my post again. ShaperProbe is wrong. If you perform a thorough speed test you will find that 25-26mb/s is your actual limit. I don't know why I get 30/5 but that's certainly not real world.

I was just saying my experience with shaperprobe and real world is the same as you.

edit: Shaperprobe is all over the place now.

Speed Test
After a one hour outage in the after hours, no doubt planned maintenance. My Modem (SB6120) came back up but on different channels for upstream and downstream.
Upstream: from channel 3 to channel 1
Downstream : from 65 67 68 69 - to – 129 130 131 132
I brought up shaper probe and found that I have went from

Upstream: 5524 Kbps.
Downstream: greater than 100 Mbps.

The measurement will take upto 2.5 minutes. Please wait.

Checking for traffic shapers:

Upstream: Burst size: 8812-8942 KB;
Shaping rate: 2016 Kbps.

Downstream: Burst size: 17715-19316 KB;
Shaping rate: 21056 Kbps.

- TO –
Upstream: 3396 Kbps.
Downstream: 30120 Kbps.

The measurement will take upto 2.5 minutes. Please wait.

Checking for traffic shapers:

Upstream: No shaper detected.
Median received rate: 3248 Kbps.

Downstream: Burst size: 11489-11794 KB;
Shaping rate: 24901 Kbps.

So just going by my line it looks like Comcast might have had a policy change where instead of letting you “powerboost” up to the capacity of the line, you’re powerboost is only going to give you an extra 5 megs for 12 MBs. Kind of disappointing when they could have done some upstream channel bonding or maybe some IPv6. I hope to see some folks from my area post about 8 bonded channels, my modem is not capable.
But I can assume that this is to better govern the different packages so that higher tier packages can see the difference a little clearer.
This is in Douglasville Ga ( 30 miles west of ATL ).

27.5/4 provisioning for Seattle area last night

I heard a bird whisper to powercycle my modem. Nice bump from 22/4 to 27.5/4 for me.

The only reason I know is the confirmation from a reliable source. I'm not sure I would have guessed looking at the shaper probe results, though.

238 Meg Upload
I guess we have to wait on bonded channels on the upstream here in Atlanta, only 2 megs on the up for us. I might be an oddball but I'ld trade 3 megs of download for every 1 meg of upload.

Yeah me to. Especially with the move towards everything becoming cloud based and myself just recently getting crash plan for backup its become increasingly aware that cable upstream speeds are way to slow. Heck even basic VOIP services tends to struggle on a 2m upstream. Hopefully with USCB it wont be long until Comcast is able to upgrade speeds for all the tiers.

Re: Blast-If you have 22/2-22/4-27.5/4 provisioning, post here

Just curious... Are we using 1 Mbit = 1000^2 or 1024^2? Using the former I see a steady 27.4 Mbps downstream, and when computed using the latter it's 26.1 Mbps.
