USB Network adapter does not work in Win 2000.My sister has purchased a Belkin USB Network Adaptor Mode 75D 7050v3.
I have installed the software for her an Device Manager Reports that the the adapter is working properly but the utility sees nither her wireless network nor any other networks in the vicinity. Following repeated conversations with Belkin Support by internet chat and phone, I have:
1. Uninstalled and reinstalled the software that came with the device. 2. Uninstalled and reinstalled the latest software downloaded from Belkin site 3. Returned the adapter to the store and exchanged it for a new one. 4. Uninstalled and reinstalled the latest software 5. confirmed that the Wireless Service is running in Windows services ( I have tried to get it working with and without this service running)
But the result is always the same an network icon with a cross and no connections available in the Belkin Utility
We have previously configured other PCs using Windows 7, Vista and XP to connect to the network.
The USB port (there is only one) functions with other USB devices.
Belkin supports latest suggestion is to reinstall Win2000 or install XP instead.
I am reluctant to do so as Belkin's suggestion so far have been of no use and this seems like clutching at straws; also I have to support my sister remotely (she is 300 miles away).
Any guidance would be gratefully appreciated
Thanks in advance

Hi Ripoli...to resolved this issue try installing the adaptor in safemode with networking and check whether you are able to view the wireless networks and if its working boot your computer in normal mode and try....
To restart your computer in safe mode with networking hit F8 key during startup |

first n foremost , what kind of usb port do u have on ur computer , is it 1.1 or 2.0 ? if ur computer is pretty old , ur usb port might be 1.0/1.1 , in which case the adapter ( any belkin adapter ) wont work |
