When you hear that "snap" the lightning's way too close for comfort. I'm guessing... less than a few hundred feet. Every time I've heard that sharp snap, I've found evidence of the strike within a stone's throw off where I happened to be. It's not a good sound! -- Sometimes I think it's a shame...
