my thoughts

I feel sorry for them. Maybe Comcast will do something about their service.

Once he gets out of the prison, he'll get a job at network security with Comcast or DHS (unless he is not genius as he appears to)

4 months of prison, hard floor sleep, shitty food , eventually love sack with guys -> $0 in college debt

He thought that must be better than

4 years of college, sleepless nights with stress and exams, shitty food, fight with guys for girlfriend or boyfriend. -> over $20,000 (or more) in college debt

This kind of logic defies me. You seem to be taking the stance that if Comcast had better security this wouldn't have happened.
By that same logic, if you were to run into the store, you leave your keys in the car, and it gets stolen. You should thank the car theives for pointing out your stupidity by leaving the keys in the car.

actually its more on the lines that when your car gets stolen its ur fault for not locking your doors/bringing your keys with you.

I would (thank the car thieves for pointing out your stupidity by leaving the keys in the car).

The hacker gained access to Comcast's domain registrar (Network Solutions) and adjusted the authoritative DNS servers for the comcast.net domain -- that has nothing to do with the security of Comcast's systems.

If you look, this has already been rectified by moving the domains to CSC Global which caters to a different market and doesn't openly expose domains via a username and password login straight from the Internet.

comcast assumed the security of their registrar. maybe they should go into the registry business so this doesn't happen again.
