Just enough time to pound into this guy's head what a knucklehead he is, and more importantly, to keep other 2 bit knuckleheads from thinking it would be a good idea to engage in behavior usually only seen in the galacticaly stupid.
After he serves his 4 months, he's got some house arrest and community service to do. He also owes Comcast a cool $128K, which he admitted in open court was his responsibility.
Having been a dopey 18 year old myself back some time before the Gulf war (the FIRST Gulf war) I can remember doing some really stupid things and not thinking of the consequences.
If I were an 18 year old (guy was 18 when the hack happened) and I read this. Well, I wouldn't even THINK of doing something like this.
This isn't punishment, this is to send a message to all the dopey Kewl wHaReZ HaCkHeRzZZZ out there that the courts take this shit seriously, and if you plan on disrupting people's service and business you're going to do some time.
I would say mission accomplished....
