Same problem.
Installer says Silverlight.3.0.exe
Properties show that file version as 3.0.50611.0 and product version 5.5.31.0
I have ver 4.0.50524.0 (and disabled).
MS reccomends an uninstall and reinstall (and for me, back to disable for now) |

Well, I did as MS suggested. I uninstalled Silverlight because the update would not install (saying I had a newer version). I also had to delete a registry key to allow the installation. After I installed it, I noticed that it seemed to be an earlier version. I got it from the page posted by Nick, so I am sure it is the one he was referring to. Anyway, I went to Windows Update (MS Update) and ran a check and was told I needed an update. The update was the one from last year to 4.xxxx etc. So I am back to where I was before removing Silverlight. I think I will leave it alone. |

I checked the registry and I have version 4.0.50524.0. How did you disable it? I have Vista.
Thanks. |

Thanks for the update. The site really did link to the older version that required the patch from earlier this year. I had obtained the newer version from the main site and did install that successfully after completely uninstalling the older version with the patch.
The version you show is the one I have installed. It's the only version installed, since the old version (3.x) with the patch was removed. I decided to disable Silverlight in both IE and Firefox anyway because I don't really need it, at least right now. I'll keep it on my system in case I change my mind. |
