 | [General] WZR-HP-G300NH Very slow compared to Netgear WNR2000 We recently moved to a new house and got cox cable. We bought a brand new buffalo and i tested the speeds via wireless and i get around 20mb dl on average and less than an mb ul.
We went to the store and got a Netgear to test and we get about 24mb on average dl and 3mb ul on average out of the box.
I updated the buffalo to the latest firmware 1.74. and have it setup to get ip via dhcp automatically.
I got this router at a great deal and thought it was really fancy with it having usb and bittorent but if i am not getting the same speeds as i am with my cheaper netgear i will have to sacrifice features over reliability. I hope there is something i can do that will speed the buffalo. |

These new ones in my opinion are just blah. Lots of bells and whistles but its like a laptop with 400Megs of bloatware on bootup, its slow and clunky and the so called nas support is poor at best.
Just me but I consider mine a waste of money and with I have got a netgear 3700 instead. |

 | I am using a Buffalo wireless-N router and wireless-N client adapters, and the performance is absolutely superb both in terms of speed and reliability. Like any router, getting the best results does rely on configuration, and there is a trade-off between reported transfer rates and stability. Where the Buffalo counts for me is that it will deliver excellent results even though the client is positioned around 40 feet and two walls away from the router.
I would say now that anyone who has tried a Buffalo wireless-N router and was less than satisfied with it should try it with the official Buffalo DD-WRT firmware. Elsewhere on the web users are reporting great results with this combination. |
