said by dakmatter:tried to disable dhcp but the wifi ip is still assigned by it If you disable the 2wire dhcp server it will not allocate any tcp/ip info
If the device still has the 2wire tcp/ip info that may be caused by not releasing and renewing the tcp/ip info on the device a dhcp device will not give up it's valid tcp/ip info until the lease expires or a forced release/renew |

 | Cable modem is the one that also has Voip included (Touchtone telephony modem) i cannot even access the thing.
Is it the ISP lease or the 2wire lease |

 | That is the IP that i get from the wlan
Can you make me a mini guide for the wifi maybe i missed something Ex Step1 ---> Step2 ---> etc etc |

wayjacPremium,MVM join:2001-12-22 Indy | There is not much to do to use the 2wire as a access point There are two 2wire pages where the changes are made use the one you like 192.168.1.254/xslt?PAGE=C06 192.168.1.254/xslt?PAGE=J09
On either page select Configure manually The Router Address is 192.168.1.254 The Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.0 You can use whatever router address and subnet mask you want Make sure the Enable DHCP check mark box is empty Then click the save or submit button to enable the changes Below is a example of the area where the changes are made

 | I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but it doesn't resolve the IP (limited or no connectivity) |

wayjacPremium,MVM join:2001-12-22 Indy | Sounds like the 2wire is setup right for the wifi link
The laptop's wired adapter has a mac address The laptop's wireless adapter has a mac address
The cable modem may be configured to give a ip address to only one mac address
You may be able to reboot the cable modem and it will give a ip address to a device with a different mac address |
