Hell after Ivan came through I still had service. Fired up the old generator and watched the braves game on tv. |

I purchased a SB6120 after I saw that channel bonding was active, because I only had a DOCSIS 2.0 modem (ARRIS CM550A).
Sadly, the max I can get is around 9Mbps down and .8Mbps up... |

Yeah, beach side has the upgrade. What speed tier are you currently subscribed to? Perhaps only Edge customers are seeing those insane speeds? (I'm in Columbus, GA, so I don't know). |

BigDusty, what is your secret?? I am beach-side, EDGE service, DOCSIS 3.0 modem, channel bonding appears to be active on the modem status page, but still no speed boost. |

All I have here is the SB6120 connected to a Linksys WRT320N which has DD-WRT on it and 354Mhz Broadcom BCM4716 cpu. Something you guys should be looking at if you have older routers (ex. WRT54G and older) » What router is best for DOCSIS 3.0 speeds? |

That thread seems to be all about wireless routers. |

I wish it were just my router...
I have a similar setup to you: SB6120 connected to a Linksys WRT350N which has DD-WRT on it... I also have a Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH that I may or may not try out (not because of this issue, but to gain unnecessary wifi range w/ its ridiculous broadcast power)
Either way, I tried my connection direct to the PC several times before. Is it worth calling Knology? I guess they wont help since we have not officially gone to DOCSIS 3.0 yet...
Frustrating... It is the only reason I bought the SB6120.
btw, it is not my gigabit ethernet card, or 980x @ 4.2 GHz slowing me down either! |

My modem at the office has yet to see the upgrade. |

Better than page after page of me ranting at how slow it was. |

I, another city-side dweller, hope that Knology is busy upgrading PC. I want to stay with them but over the last year speeds have gotten worse and worse. Even had a tech out. He said everything was working fine. He must use dial-up to say every thing is fine. Considering upgrading to "Edge". Worth the cost? |
|
|
did the tech show you on his laptop that it was fine or with his meter. Does this happen at a specific time of day? Also, go to web address 192.168.100.1 and tell me downstream and upstream. |

Hi SuperTech76. He never used his laptop or meter. He came in and ran a few speed tests on my laptop. That was it.
The stats you requested: Downstream Power 0.0 dBmV SNR 35.6 dB Upstream Power 45.5 dBmV
My speeds fluctuate all over the place. Been that way for a while now. Really, ever since my IP address changed. Had the same one for a long time, then the last two octets changed. I thought it was weird the two octets would change and not just one. Figured they were upgrading the network. But, nonetheless, that's when it all happened.
Downstream Channel Lock Status Operational Modulation 256QAM Channel ID 1 Symbol Rate 5360.537 Ksym/sec Downstream Power 0.0 dBmV SNR 35.6 dB
Upstream Channel Lock Status Operational Modulation 16QAM Channel ID 5 Symbol Rate 2560 Ksym/sec Upstream Power 45.5 dBmV |
|
|
You have great levels- downstream needs to be between +4 and-6 and upstream needs to be between 35 and 55 to work properly. You need to gather information for about a week of times when you have good speeds and bad speeds, because if it is a specific time, thats when you need to set your appointment for a tech and show him your data, so he can catch it with the speeds your showing and he can check at the tap with his meter and write it up for maintenance. |

Not sure what's going on on the city side in my area but my modem's activity light has been flashing like mad for 3-4 days. SB5100, shows no new software on it - and speeds are the same as always but crazy flashing on the WAN side. Not sure if it's pings, arps or what. |
|
BiGdUsTy join:2005-10-20 Panama City Beach, FL |
Looks like city side got the new c4 cmts installed! That WAN traffic your seeing is an ARP packet storm. |
|
goober22Resident Duh-Huh Member join:2001-12-28 Panama City, FL |
Yeah, that what I was thinking after reading thru this one and the other thread on the ARPs traffic. Maybe some love is getting ready to come to use "city" folks! |
|
BiGdUsTy join:2005-10-20 Panama City Beach, FL |
It's my understanding that once they switch us all over to Docsis 3 that the ARP storm should subside. |
|
|
Nice to see you guys got Docsis 3. I know you've been needing it. |

Hey, guys. I have this modem:
ARRIS DOCSIS 2.0 Touchstone Cable Modem HW_REV: 08 VENDOR: Arris Interactive, L.L.C.
Will it be able to get any higher speeds than 8mbit? |
