Re: [BT] µTorrent 2.0.3 jimboe , you can try new version 2.0.3 and then switch it back to 1.6.1. It's easy to do. Keep your 1.6.1 executable file, download the new file v.2.0.3 and run. It will ask to install itself. Allow it to run, but un-tick all options it offers (11 options on several wizard pages). At the end it will start the new version, which will keep all your old setting and stats. Then, at any time later on, you may run your old v.1.6.1 version again and it will install it back.
I do it all the time switching between 1.8.5 and the latest versions. And the reason is - I'm not happy with the latest development... While v.2.0.3 is a bit better, then its close predecessors, it still in some cases slow. And under "slow" I mean it may start downloading (and/or uploading) some torrents with the speed around 1 kB/s or even less and there is nothing I can do about it... I switch to the old version and may see a different story (with the same torrent, of cause). They may start use some different throttling technique and it may slow down the exchange dramatically out of nowhere.
With the uTorrents the newest is not necessarily better. Watch for other clients used around ("Client" column) and compare how they behave, it may give you some ideas...
BTW, anyone knows where to find old uTorrent's files? -- Keep it simple, it'll become complex by itself... |
