[Wireless] WHR-HP-G54 Tomato Poor reception

I just purchased a WHR-HP-G54 in the hopes I would have much better reception then my compusa 15 dollar wireless G router. I was wrong My room that the router is in is a good size, but even the kitchen which is right outside I get 1 bar in. Is there any safe power adjustments I can do to get better reception?

Find a channel that doesn't have a saturated noise floor by other in-area devices which also use the 2.4GHz spectrum.

Consider also using an non-overlapping channel like 1, 6, or 11.

"Bars" means nothing, you need to be looking at RSSI.
