So, Hotfile is throttled? During What Times?

I read a topic here a while back regarding the throttling done by Bell on Hotfile downloads. Yesterday I bought myself a Hotfile Premium account and immediately saw speeds ranging from 10kbps to 20kbps. Some time this morning, can't remember when tbh, I reached full download speed at somewhere around 700kbps.

What time period is throttling in effect for so I can avoid downloading at these times?

I'm a bit late to this because I don't usually use hotfile or those types of services but when did this start?

It has been a while now.

rapidshare is not as bad... and we have switched back to them for quick hosting solutions for work .

Hotfile is a hit and missing. sometimes during throttle hours i get 200kb suprise. but 99% of the time it's slow as crap.

I thought HTTP traffic was not being throttled as they told the crtc , so why is hotfile?

Cuz bell lies through their teeth till they get caught with their pants down. I should not just say bell that does that.

at one point, http traffic that wasn't on port 80 or port 443 was throttled. Don't know if that's still the case.

I'm pretty sure I'm getting throttled on megaupload, the times match the times bell throttles(4:30pm - 2am). Outside of those times I can get 500kb/s, now I get around 30kb/s during the throttling hours.

Before the throttling started I used to get 500kb/s almost throughout the entire day with a free membership.

I can confirm hotfile is throttled.

MLPPP = off = 30 KB/s downloads
MLPPP = on = as fast as my connection allows

and yes, this is with a premium account. I have an RS account as well and don't recall whether it was throttled. I've never bothered checking with MLPPP off.

Well then... it will be a good opportunity to throttle Netflix but leave their own video library unthrottled.

If true then this is despicable behavior by BHell et al. People pay good money for premium accounts only to get crippled value because of BHell et al high handedness and stupidity. You should complain to to the Megaupload people and say companies such as BHell are hurting their business.

Hotfile's throttled by bell.

The rest of the sites (at least what I've noticed) are not.
They may be throttled internally (i.e. the specific sites throttle free accounts), but only hotfile is affected by bell's throttle so far.

I highly doubt that because of bell. Maybe free megaupload has a heavy load during the same time period. Let's not cry wolf until the premium service actually get throttled..

I have a HF premium account and a couple of days ago I noticed that my downloads are throttled (I get ~30KB/s, which is ~20x less than my normal speed).
I don't know when it starts the throttling during the day, but I'm sure it lasts up till 2am.
That's appalling. BHell should pay for that!!!

As a customer you should complain to Hotfile and say that BHell is preventing customers in Canada from enjoying Hotfile services.

+1

Try and show some proof it possible. If you can't get proof, at least make it convincing.

Unless Bell has updated their throttling policy to include black listing certain websites, this is violating the CRTC ruling on network practices.
