Nexicom dsl at north end of Peterborough

I am thinking about switching to Nexicom with either Turbo or Super package. Will I get the speed as advertized at north end of the city? around Portage Mall? Thanks.

Hi There,

Sorry for taking so long to respond.

It depends on what part of town you are in up there. A lot of the newer subdivision on the East side of Chemong is fed from a remote and the speeds should be pretty good.

If you are on the West side, then chances are that you are fed from the CO on Hunter St. If you are on the CO, then we have a lot more control since it is our own DSLAM and I can work to make it as good as possible, but I can't do much about the length of the loop.

Hope that helps.

Hi, thanks for replying my inquiry. I am on the east side of Chemong, Baker St. When you say "... the east side is fed from a remote..", is the feeding remote Bell's? The reason I ask is because I tried Bell's DSL couple times in the past, and was never able to get the speed they advertized. Bell blaimed me being too far away from their feeds. Thanks again.

Hi,

Yeah, it is a Bell remote I was talking about (we would have to do Bell wholesale in that case).

We could probably do better with ADSL2+, but no guarantees. It all comes down to the loop length and the condition of the loop.
