Tx Nick...

Like the title says, this is good for users but long term-wise, much work is needed still.

Who owns the Trademark?

"Making Technology work for you!"

In any case, seems like both sides can claim victory. The real test lies in the implementation. How long before we can begin to see the fruits of this decision? Also does this also allow access to Docsis 3 Cable running at 100Mbps?

the real question is how will UBB affect this decision.
Right now even with speed matching, the retards at Bell are cooking up some way to screw all of us over with UBB.

I hope UBB and Throttling don't get worse with this.

Lets go with one step at a time for now. Today was a pretty good "now" victory... Let's enjoy the moment and do what we can to put things in place for higher speeds. We'll tackle the UBB and other large matters in the morning! LOL

That's the way I see it... seeing the events of today; the CRTC may hand us another win...

I'm not holding my breath but there's no sense in getting angry about this until the shoe drops.

Today was a definite for consumers and business.... This, in my mind, should be seen as the tides of change frankly.

Have to agree.. way too much emphasis on "best for the consumer" etc throughout the document... I suspect that UBB will be viewed with a similiar spirit.. at least I hope so.

In meantime, while we're waiting.. what about crankin up the speed on the ole DSL lines in the morning once all the celebrations are over!

LOL... I'm repeating the good for consumer piece as it's really easy for this group to get caught up in the past... There's a serious hint of change and frankly, I welcome it!

As I mentioned in the other thread...if we still get screwed with low caps and brutal overage fees..how is this positive?

What I just read in a couple of articles around the net is bibic saying now we are not going to invest in new infrastructure because a 10% markup is not enough profit (ok bell maybe no profit is better? you just go and tell your investors that, get a brain bibic), and Rogers CEO is now complaining that bell gets a 10% mark up and cable companies don't......

Guess who owns all the adsl2+ line cards? That's right Bell owns them so get this straight if you aren't within close proximity to a central office forget about getting on a remote with an ADSL2+ line card. Put another way not much will change for all the bosses at Teksavvy.

Mister comedian who own all the adsl2+ line cards? If you already get 5 meg 7 meg isn't much better. You'll never see adsl2+ unless you switch back to Bell.

Rofl... sour grapes Bibic! People aren't fooled by the "I'm taking my ball and going home" routine anymore.

How is this a win?

It just locks people further into the grasp of Bell as wholesalers
can now just keep comfortably wholesaling (with matching speeds.)

@blackdragon: it means they can't create innovative solutions to meet customer needs (i.e custom / variable profiles: 10 /3 mpbs or static IP offerings). Basically they are being limited to what Bell / Rogers / Telus tell them they are allowed to do on their network.

@Chuck Carlso: TSI doesn't have to own them, just have access to them. Even if that were a problem, they could always buy them directly. When there is a will, there is a way (especially if the law is on your side).

@R0cky: Your right, a win is a win, can't wait to see something faster than 5mb with TSI!
