24db grid antenna

how does this antenna »www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid···&cpc=SCH differ from the more popular hg2424g antenna? I am setting up a 250u 3g connection. So far i have the correct fme dongle and a 2/3 watt booster. I am using a 3dbi antenna and getting 87 db to 84 db. If those antennas are pretty much the same i will go with the one from geeks. Its about 20 bucks cheaper.

Also i need some direction as to what cable to get. I will need at least 30 feet. Is it worth going with lmr 600 for a 30 foot run? Is there anything better than the lmr 600 stuff? It looks pretty thick and stiff.

Looks pretty much the same to me. Go with the cheaper one. LMR-600 is way over-kill for 30' and is very heavy. Go with LMR-400.

any good links on where to get some lmr 400? I noticed the prices are quite high.

You can google it, but I buy it here: »www.wpsantennas.com/timesmicrowa···400.aspx - great company.

I think i will go with 30 or 40 feet from the hyperlink website. It is a bit cheaper. It is just as good as the WPS stuff isnt it?
I also have to have a n-male to sma-male.

The hyperlink cable works good for me. They have good mounts for the antenna if you need one. »www.l-com.com/item.aspx?id=21604&cmp=ALSOS
I use eur-am.com for adapters, but looks like they are out of the one you want.

What you might consider is an amp from MaxSignal. He states that with the Cyfre amp you can use nice cheap RG58 coax instead of the way pricier LMR stuff, plus you'll pickup a great deal of gain, probably in the area of 15-18db, which should give you more than enough signal.

I don't know what your expectations are but I seriously doubt adding a grid antenna given your signal is -75 dBm now will gain you anything. What are your speeds now?

Jack not sure if you talkng to me but here is my speed test.

I just switched from VZW to millenicom today and my signal went from -75 to -85 with the switch of modems. However I'm getting a great ping time now.

This is interesting.... I wonder what results i should expect from a 2 watt booster and a grid if i am getting about 89 db now? If its not worth the money, i have better things to spend it on .

-89dbm is low signal, but with an amp and grid you should see sig level in the area of high 60's to very low 70's. It should produce better speeds, but you also might have tower congestion reducing your speed. Can you drive up to or near the tower with a laptop and see how much your speed improves with more signal?
