| I can see the Future The FCC will protect the interests of entrenched players and will severely restrict or deny white space applications from being rolled out. This will however be claimed to be a step forward in opening markets and fostering competition. Eventually, years from now, the entrenched players themselves will begin whitespace projects, in which case the FCC will rubber stamp it and point to their "leadership" on the issue and the great successes for the American people....
... all the while the entrenched players will just keep a stranglehold on the market, and will control all available spectrum. -- "Fascism should more properly be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power." -- Benito Mussolini

| I was honestly guessing the same thing.
Not worded with the term "entrenched" but it was very similar.
Either way, I'm hoping that the FCC allows White Space broadband. If it's widely available, and is actually reasonably priced & reliable & quick... then it's good.
But that's hoping for too much. |

 | I'd be awesome if they took it one step further and made it resemble the ISM bands. |

| I think it'd be awesome if they would at least be innovative and simple-minded, instead of slaves to big corporations.
But... not gonna happen.
I'd love for it to happen in general, though. I know how it feels to be rurally trapped without broadband. |

Sammer join:2005-12-22 Canonsburg, PA | With the cell phone carriers looking for an additional 120 MHZ (channels 31-36, 38-51) from the UHF TV Band there will be no white spaces. There's only one really good white space (channel 45) in downtown Pittsburgh now. Cities like LA, NYC, and Philly have even more crowded airwaves. |
