I think it'd be awesome if they would at least be innovative and simple-minded, instead of slaves to big corporations.

But...
not gonna happen.

I'd love for it to happen in general, though.
I know how it feels to be rurally trapped without broadband.

With the cell phone carriers looking for an additional 120 MHZ (channels 31-36, 38-51) from the UHF TV Band there will be no white spaces. There's only one really good white space (channel 45) in downtown Pittsburgh now. Cities like LA, NYC, and Philly have even more crowded airwaves.
