They're cutting their costs, not necessarily their service. Virgin Mobile is probably paying less for their bandwidth versus pushing it all out over SprintLink through a variety of internet access points. Not 100% sure exactly what's going on there, but it's something that can be easily fixed, an should be if VMo wants to gain more customers.
Otherwise, you end up with another CricKet...geez their MBB sucks.
