SPEED

to kmcheng, your getting good speed, because I live like 2 blocks from the Forest Hills CO, i'm like 920ft from CO based on T1 site, remember, 7.1Mbps is advertised, but you get 6.5 plus the overhead for another 600.

Also I want to get the 15Mbps package since i'm paying $54.90 per month for a dry line so an extra $10-15 extra is not that bad for an extra 7.9Mbps of speed. I just also looked at RR pricing and so far altogether for the same tier for RR costs $55.90, and most likely the risk of not getting the speed. At least with DSL the speed is a lot more stable then cable that's why when I move out somewhere I always check what DSL can I have before I ever think of cable.

I know I am a fairly luck one among other DSL users.
Actually I heard from the verizion tech here that the actual speed from the 7.1mb plan is 7.8. But even if it is 7.1, strictly speaking I am still not getting my money's worth.
I was a cable internet user until Jan of 09. I got a half year of super speed drop in second half of 08, and I had enough, and Time Warner wasn't likely to do anything about it, so I switched to DSL. Yes, the download is slower, but at least the speed is constant with acceptable rare down time.
And now I am waiting, waiting and waiting for fios, get double the speed with just $8 more or something.
The interesting thing is, a guy next door to me is using cable, he ain't got any speed drop, so I don't know what happened to mine, but don't really bother to change back.
I do want the 10 or 15mb speed package, but like I said, so far from the CO.
