MustangPremium join:2005-06-27 Fort Lauderdale, FL 1 edit | Gamers are everywhere While I know its not a stretch to find gamers working in the tech support industry, I came across one just as I was wrapping up at work this Friday.
I work at a large bank (as does the tech guy) and while he was messing around my workstation through remote access I mentioned ATI drivers, gaming yada yada and surprise, the guy is a WoW player.
Anyone else stumble across a gamer when they least expected it? |

| A girl I picked up at a party last year. I only knew she was in my faculty and looked stupidly hot, but knew nothing else. A friend presented her.
Next morning, she looks at my shelves and sees the orange box and goes "Did you like episode 2? I can't wait to play episode 3."

 | Well me and my friend experienced the "gamer is everywhere" situation when we ride a taxi to go to a party while we are inside the taxi we're talking about Diablo II LoD and went to the released date of Diablo III and the driver suddenly entered the conversation telling that he really is frustrated and excited to own one, then the three of us just chatting till we reached the destination. |

I worked for Coinstar and I used to be able to tell you where a good wireless connection was in most any town in the central region of NY or northern PA. |

There's about eight marines in my unit (out of about 100) who all play wow on the same realm. |

 | reply to Mustang I was at the zoo last weekend and I was feeding one of the monkeys and he was playing WoW on a laptop he crafted from wood and bananas. I was going to ask what server he was on but I was distracted by Batman. |

One day as I'm leaving work, I tell my employee that I'm heading home to hit the battlefield. I didn't think he would even have a clue what I meant. He looks at me and says "No freaking way.....I would have never guessed you play battlefield". I told him me and my son are online usually every evening.

 | reply to Mustang I used to work as a broker and one of our most difficult clients was also one of the biggest for our firm, I mean the guy like was THE market maker for local Foreign Exchange. but he never liked going out drinking and getting entertained, which was a huge problem for us cause thats how we built and maintained the relationships.
Was later that we found out he was a WoW gamer and a hardcore one at that, most of my entertaining time was quickly dedicated to WoW. Nothing like going into work late the next day because you have been up pushing raid progression content and calling it "work" lol. |

I thought he was asking if I was gay(no im not Im married with 2 kids lol) so I said "what?". He then says "horde or alliance?". He saw my WOW boxes on my desk(I dont play anymore) and told me he plays horde and WOW a lot. Was kinda cool and I think he did a better job on my furnace since I was a fellow gamer |

| reply to Mustang I have an opposite dilemma. I work in an IT office with dozens of IT people. Not a single one of them are gamers. I tried to hand out an SC2 free trial card and not a single person was interested.

3 edits | reply to Mustang My last company was like that Arch. The IT people all said they were in it for the money and didn't want to see a PC when they left the office. One spent all his extra cash on remote controlled helicopters, another kayaking, a few owned fishing/ski boats, and the rest just watched TV for fun. I'd rather multi-task myself. I can fish on a boat while playing WoW or watch TV while playing WoW. |

| I work for a large agency with several dozen IT people and I think I heard someone say "Yeah, that guy in this division is a huge gamer," and that's all I've heard. Some dude on the other side of the building is a gamer. I think if you include all the app devs, we probably have 100-200 IT people. -- 'A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.' -Thomas Jefferson - |

| reply to Mustang A little OT - I used to work as an after-market installer/trainer of Konica copiers and when I had to work with a companies IT I would ask how many played WoW. I only ran across a couple that didn't have any and I made a game out of picking which IT person was Horde or Alliance. I ran at about 75% right. It was fun for me and them and it usually broke the ice so I could get their help if I needed anything. -- Is this the value of our existence, Should we proclaim with such persistence, Our destiny relies on conscience, Red or blue what's the difference.

 | reply to Mustang I am the only guy at my office. 60 employees and their gaming doesn't go beyond Farmville. Now some of the IT guys at other locations play everything from Counterstrike to WoW. |
