I'm being countered by people who think VoIP will never be as reliable as POTS.
Nobody debates that a PAP2T on a residential internet connection will be as reliable as POTS. It won't. But, if as much money, time, and planning were put into a VoIP system as the POTS system, it absolutely would be as reliable. Even if a moderate amount is spent by the technically-minded end user, a sufficiently reliable system can be created. There is no inherent reason why the technology cannot be reliable, if engineered properly.
In my street VOIP is MORE reliable than POTS. Put simply Verzon has OLD OLD copper (underground) and they have absolutely no desire to spend the money to pull more copper. Inevitably the debate POTS versus VOIP is gradually and irrevocably morphing in gfavor of the latter as copper lines age and are seldom replaced.
