I definitely think that every new house built as of 2 years ago should be FTTH, but a rollout like verizon did is just stupid and it was compounded by the economy going down the drain.

Verizon's strategy is forward-thinking unlike a certain other major telco. It actually compels cable providers to compete and push out DOCSIS 3, benefiting everyone. And mind you, Verizon started deploying FiOS well before the recession hit. -- This signature has consumed several bytes of your bandwidth.

| Re: Theres nothing wrong with VDSL2.... again. how does FiOS even bother cable? Their major threat in NY has had their speeds beat for YEARS! VZ didn't do anything to compete. They could have built out FiOS years ago to compete but instead they sat on the $100 DSL connections everyone was paying for and did nothing but want more $$$ each and everytime you turned around for higher phone bills and such.
VZ doesn't compete with anyone except VZ. and they prefer it that way. They're no better now than they were before FiOS. Cable will always rule VZ. Especially when they don't know how fast cable could be FTTH and really do damage to them. -- www.twopugsbrand.com Kosher, Vegan, and Organic Certified Dog and Cat treats/foods and other products! www.etsy.com/shop/snakx4u/ Organic, Kosher, Gluten Free, Vegan Human Baked Goods

Copper is simply inferior to FTTH. The capacity is there to deliver speeds far faster than Verizon's current tiers and obtain speeds cable can only dream of. You can keep your shoddy cable service; in the meantime, I'm enjoying my symmetrical 25/25 internet and pristine HD quality.

1 edit | Re: Theres nothing wrong with VDSL2.... you must not have read what i said. go back and read. and i know what FiOS is. an over priced VZ product they only rolled out due to the FCC saying they wouldn't be required to share it. Cable has been there and done that. You can keep your service and wait for the day VZ sells you off like everyone else they did.
and define fighting. how do you figure this? because everyone you know changed to VZ? big deal. there are many more people that will NEVER change due to their happy with their services with their current provider. -- www.twopugsbrand.com Kosher, Vegan, and Organic Certified Dog and Cat treats/foods and other products! www.etsy.com/shop/snakx4u/ Organic, Kosher, Gluten Free, Vegan Human Baked Goods

Everything you said was basically made up, whether by you or your next door neighbor. Do your research before posting a ton of misleading and unverified BS.
Besides, why would they sell off Maryland's service? And who would they sell it to, AT&T? The very thought is ridiculous. -- This signature has consumed several bytes of your bandwidth.

| | Actually scheduling any major construction project or expansion during a severe recession is very intellegent. Particularly if you have the money in reserve. Contract labour can cost you pennies on the dollar, as well as bulk supplies. If you can offer a large contract at a time when any contract is a god send, you don`t pay near as much....
Nursing copper is a short sighted investors thinking. When working from home I need as much speed as possible. Large architectural drawings take quite a few seconds at 5Mb and just a few milliseconds at 50Mb, which you think big deal, but I might go through several hundred in a day, as well as electrical schematics and transfering other files from my office. The extra speed makes a substantial difference in my day. God forbid I try streaming anything (say my wife watching a vid on the other computer, or wife and child streaming two shows at the same time!) while doing my work at 5Mb. It could make for a long day. The time IS now for improvement in service, instead of nursing dead or dieing technology.
