CE manufacturers should be angry.

I would think that the CE manufacturers of these phones should be rather upset with AT&T and Verizon. The idea is to move hardware. If people are avoiding the locked down phones for other ones running an unlocked version of Android then the VZ/AT&T policies are having a direct impact on sales.

You believe Verizon and AT&T do this without assistance from the manufacturers? I doubt that very much.

Huh? The manufacturers are the ones that put the software on the phones.

Do you really think that they aren't doing what Verizon tells them to do if they want Verizon to sell the manufacturer's phones?
