Looks like the multimedia phones are in a tier BELOW smartphones and ABOVE feature phones. But I'll be damned if I can tell what the major differences are between what they call multimedia phones and smartphones. Though they do list them as 2 different categories.

Agreed. It is somewhat confusing. Maybe VZW will eventually get to two tiers, "regular phones" and "devices requiring a data plan".
