Re: Severe Connection Problems with Verizon DSL

I would have to say yes to both of those, but I also believe it depends on the area in which there are problems. Some areas they seem to get congested or problematic for months on end with nothing going on to get it resolved. I can't give you a definite answer however.

@Smith6612

I have recently filed a post with Verizon Direct. They've finally noticed that my line is not receiving optimal bandwidth, and apparently something is being done about it, but speeds are still slow.

I'm thinking of installing an in-line DSL splitter, such as this one:

»www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00171···0A88C9MD

When the DSL was first activated, the DSL line shared a phone jack with a fax machine through use of a plug-in double-outlet. Connections were intermittent, so I replaced this Verizon supplied solution with an actual 2-outlet jack. With the slitter in, the modem's jack could be wired to the cable's unused pair, which would be wired to the splitter. Sound like a good plan?

Sounds good to me. Using the unused pair for DSL only should not affect the DSL in any way.

I've had enough. They're now trying to shedule tech visits for times when I'm not home (or anyone else for that matter). I will, most likely, be getting rid of the DSL very soon and switch over to Earthlink Cable.
