I am stunned at how quickly this thing renders sites. Absolutely amazing, in beta form, a thousand times superior to IE8.

2 things I don't really like so far...

1 - The font rendering... I hate it, and I can't find a way to get it to use "normal" non-aliased fonts. Even turning off the GPU rendering doesn't do it.

2 - UI not customizable. I know everyone is out for minimalism now, but I would at least like to be able to have a full row for tabs, not have them squished beside the address bar, because I sometimes have 8 or so tabs open. I like to see at least a bit of the tab title. Maybe someone will eventually find a registry hack for that or something.

Other than those 2 things, looking good so far!

Very nice. Runs fast and smooth. The only thing so far is I can't get to Yahoo mail with it.

edit: Anyone else having a Yahoo mail problem with IE 9?

Re: [Info] Internet Explorer 9 BETA Released

Some questions for those who've done it on W7 64 Bit.
a. Did IE9 beta install over IE 8 or IE 8 was left alone?
b. IN W7 64 Bit, did it install both 32 & 64 Bit versions of IE?

Thanks.

It replaces IE8, and installs both 64 and 32 bit versions.

Control panel; uninstall; a program; make sure the "view installed updates" feature is enabled.

EDIT:
P.S.>> Found out I couldn't attach the above pic to the BBR post here in IE9 without the attached pic showing as a blank image. When I switched to Chrome, it worked. Bug in IE9 or in BBR's attachment code?

I don't mean for this to sound trollish, but blech. It looks too much like Google Chrome. I'll stick to Firefox & IE 8.

My guess on that it has something to do with ClearType fonts being enabled/disabled.

IE7Pro (I use for ad blocking only) works with IE9

For anyone interested, I use IE7Pro to block ads(like adblocker in Firefox). IE7Pro is much more than that, but I turn that all off and only use it for ad blocking.

Well, it seems to be working fine with IE9. At least for ad blocking. Can't speak to its other capabilities.

fonts are seems not only light, but even washed out a little. cleartype tuner didn't help.. is there a way to enable/disable hardware (GPU I presume) acceleration.

..edit: I found it, first thing in options under advanced.. dahh.

..edit2: also All CPU Meter gadget isn't working after the install.

I noticed I now have a white desktop background behind my Gadgets.

Also I haven't figured out how to customize the bars at top. I want my home and favorites buttons on the left but I can't move them even with the bars unlocked.
