i used Bell Fibe 25, i was getting about 900kb/s to 2 mb/s from torrent thepiratebay. When i use private tracker, i got about 2.3 to 2.5mb/s. Rogers block most torrent. I was with Roger from 2004 to 2009= my download speed was 5kb to 70kb/s max lol( was using High speed internet express).

and i just cancel my Bell Fibe 25 due to 60$ fee charge extra if i download over. Getting teksavvy cable.

VPN is the only thing that works.
It would be great to have a list of cheap fast ones.
Unfortunately I do not.

Rogers is going all out, blocking some major trackers, and closing connections.
If you dont want Rogers messing with your traffic, VPN is the way to go.

superchargemyinternet is retarded! i paid $1.00 for their 4 day trial, asked support but Rogers Deep Packet Throttling trumps this weak proxy service

VPN is the way to go but i'm having trouble finding good ones,

i've tried vpn4all they offer unlimited @ $16.95/month; they have servers in Toronto, Chicago; I get 15/2 through the VPN with my 50/2 Ultimate service; the provider might be capping slots at 15 i think

If anyone knows a cheap reliable and fast provider, please share!

You could try a seedbox. Those run $10-15. Let the seedbox do all the torrent traffic and then use the Roger pipe to suck down the file.

SOLUTION! Re: [Extreme Plus] Utorrent Settings and Rogers

Hi,
I just found a trick that increased my speed dramatically!
First i found that all my udp connections are blocked when throttle is in effect from 5 to 12 pm week-day.
I just limit my utorrent to Only use tcp connection.
Simply go in to preference and then in advanced,
And edit the "bt.transp_disposition" to value: "5" and then set.
To apply changes simply Stop all your Torrents and wait 10 seconds and restart them.
I was able to reach my connection limit during traffic shaping hours.
Hope this works for others,
Good luck

Re: [Extreme Plus] Utorrent Settings and Rogers

I tried WiredBob's solution and will corroborate his claim. I went from struggling to maintain a total of 30K/s down and barely 10 up to sustaining 400 down and 30 up.
Not maxed, by any means, but a hell of a lot better.

Can someone who is actually a known member of the site corroborate WiredBob's solution?

His method does do what he says. By using the value "5" you are only accepting TCP ports. Here is a full guide. »www.tmsnetwork.org/blog/%C2%B5to···xplained

I have tried what he said and I am not getting any results near 400kb/s

EDIT: I've noticed that this method actually does make a rather significant improvement if you're only downloading one torrent at a time. I don't know how it works exactly but it seems to be working.

I know what he's talking about, a few months ago when uTorrent introduced uTP they bypassed throttling; using TCP was always throttled

Today it doesn't matter what number you put into bt.transp_disposition you'll get throttled

but anywho:

* 1 allows uTorrent to attempt outgoing TCP connections
* 2 allows uTorrent to attempt outgoing uTP connections
* 4 allows uTorrent to accept incoming TCP connections
* 8 allows uTorrent to accept incoming uTP connections
* 16 tells uTorrent to use the new uTP header. This is an improved communication header, but is not backwards compatible with clients that do not understand it.

Basically, these values can be added together in order to enable the options. Examples of bt.transp_disposition values combinations:

* 31 (16 + 8 + 4 + 2 + 1) = enables all the options above
* 15 (1 + 2 + 4 + 8) = uTorrent will attempt both TCP and uTP for outgoing connections, and accepts TCP and uTP incoming connections
* 10 (2 + 8) = uTorrent will only attempt to create uTP outgoing connections and only accepts uTP incoming connection
* 5 (1 + 4) = uTorrent will only use TCP for outgoing connections and when accepting incoming conncetions

I knew they were throttling. Oligopolist bastards. I just keep checking. Teksavvy come to my neighborhood!!!!! K2B 7N9!!!!!!

I feel like getting a cheap VPN/proxy(US IP address ) then getting a USA Netflix account. Has anyone else done this yet?

A switch to Teksavvy and a VPN to US Netflix would free me from all Rogers content, be cheaper and deliver better content.

I'm angry now. UBB AND throttling. This conduct is unbelievable. It is a throwback to the robber baron days. You do this at your peril Rogers. We don't need you. A pipe is a pipe is a pipe. Your monopoly only exists on paper.

I can confirm this as well, though it doesn't restore full speed, it's an improvement... before change, d/l 5 torrents at around 40kBps combined, after change, getting around 100kBps but with very heavy fluctuation.

Yeah I got a US VPN paid 40 for it for a year. It was half price on some spacial. I went ahead and got a US Netflix account too. works fine on my dsl I dumped the rogers account cause damn if I'm paying over 80 for internet that is throttled.

dont be so haste there are users posting in the teksavvy forum and looks like there might be some traffic shaping going on because they are complaining about slow torrents ....

yep, but i use ssh socks proxy. I wrote a little autossh script that keeps the pipe open, and now more than three or four people can watch netflix simultaneously from the US service. Top notch.

Uh, Sorry to break it to you, but the monopoly actually exists in the form of a nationwide network of cable that Rogers paid for. Until competitors stop moaning to get government to make Rogers share and actually divvy up the dough and build their own lines, then this monopoly will continue to exist and adoption will be slow. You want better service some time in the future? Reward those providers that opt for building their own networks; wireless seems to be the only way to do that atm. Teksavvy is not one of them.
