Re: [Hockey] Official~ NHL thread...........scores and highlites

No problems what Tim did. Team efforts on ice. Off the ice do whatever you like or have convictions.

As I said before he has balls.

No Guts no Glory. He Met Lord Stanley and don't want to meet the Prez. Fair.

Re: Thomas skips White House visit

From what Neeley said, it sounds like Thomas doesn't support the party of the President, so why should he show up? If his going would be against his beliefs, I have no problem with him now showing up.

Yep. Include Lougongo scaring the crap out of me a multiple of times.
Are they miking the post these days? The clang of the puck off the pipes is definitely more noticeable now. I like it. It really grabs your attention.

Short handed goal and one Luongo should have stopped.

Phil Kessel can sleep tonight, fairly sure he won't be picked last at the all star game for a second straight year, as Lupul has been named an "assistant" captain (should that not be alternate?) for Team Chara.

Team Alfredsson's "assistant" captain is Henrik Lundqvist. With the announcement that Alfie's first pick would be Karlsson "because my kids would be mad at me if I didn't" (Karlsson lived with the Alfredssons during his first season in Ottawa), and likely to get the Sedins as I can't see Chara taking them, it could turn into "Team Sweden" but that's not a bad thing considering the talent level of all involved.

From @TSNScottyMac:

quote:
Ron Wilson on Lupul being an "A" at #NHLAllStarGame: "Think Phil Kessel is the most relieved guy in the room." Good line. #Leafs #Habs #NHL

This Shaw kid for Chicago is insane. The goal doesn't count due to ref's blindness, however the knock down and pass was unbelievable.

i know...to make matters worse, i also have Kiprosoff, Ovechkin, Mike Richards and Visnovsky, who have all cost me to be in 6th place (out of 9 people) in my pool...Ovechkin and Kipper have started to play a little better, but my god, i have already ditched a few players, but of course, you are kind of guessing at who to replace them with (as other "top players" are already chosen)...as well, each person only gets one trade per "line" (so one goalie, one defenseman, one forward) and that was my last trade...i already ditched Camalleri about a month ago when he wasn't getting me anything (picked up Backes instead), and of course, Camalleri will likely start lighting it up in Calgary now that he has been traded...oh well, that might help Kipper.

Good news story:

Brian Elliott, currently on a 2-way contract, and who won the backup role in St Louis during training camp, is going to the All-Star game.

Better news story:

He signed to a 2 year / 1 way extension for $1.7M next year and $1.9M the year after (cap hit of $1.8M).

Congrats to him! (story)

(edit = fixed typo and added cap hit info, even though it was obvious)

With Koivu out with an injury, who do they send from the Wild? If it's Heatley, which captain will pick him?

I don't know that Chara would have any issue with Heatley. Their time in Ottawa only overlapped by 1 season, and it was a pretty good season too.

I'm still mad that the Leafs didn't take hitchcock and just fired Wilson's ass...

Well I'm sure glad they didn't give Wilson a 7 year extension.

They'll be eating shit sandwiches in Buffalo over that one, especially now that Miller is tanking along with their top 20 million in cap hits.

But... Ted Nolan is available from what I hear.

This does ruin the dream of "getting the band back together" though

True, but that would have been hard to do in any case. Here's a question to ponder:

With Koivu out with an injury, who do they send from the Wild? If it's Heatley, which captain will pick him?

Reading the NHL release on it, I'm a little surprised that there's no talk of Chara being with Ottawa for 5 years (4 seasons, thanks to the lock-out).

I mean, of course focus on what he's done in Boston as that's what has earned him the nod, but you'd think they'd play up the "former Senator" angle a bit more than a quick mention in the sentence talking about his career stats.

I'm a bit surprised it's two Eastern team players that are the captains for the ASG. Senators captain and ex-Senators player.....love it! Lots of great reaction on Twitter so far, but the best has been @DownGoesBrown:

I hope Zdeno Chara drafts Kessel by saying "I guess I might as well, since I already own him".
