Re: [Hockey] Official~ NHL thread...........scores and highlites

Pitt is up 2-1,but the picture is brutal,no HD.

And Philly leads 3-2..........a lot of goals scored on Miller,a bit of a surprise.

It was 3-0, but Habs just scored to make it 3-1.

LOL, did anyone catch the ending of Coach's Corner?

They were showing different octopuses (octopi?) and there was a shot of Mike Milbury holding one, and Ron Maclean goes "Mike, you have small tentacles".

Cracked me up!

It's not like the stars haven't seen it before.............the goon acts that the Hawks were pulling on the Canucks in the last couple of playoffs ,but this year they don't have those players anymore.

They've got 1 moron [Scott] and the Canucks showed exactly what they do with idiots like that, draw a penalty and score 5 seconds into it.

I would hope that Sportsmanship would eventually rule.

The HIT earned a penalty, and CHI scored on the power play. The league affirmed the on-ice ruling.

The league does need to clarify this rule Its a physical game at a professional level with player who specialize in being physically hard hitting to their opponents.

What if the NFL blocked all headshots?

Yep, especially that Chicago is all but done now. If the score is in favour of Vancouver, they may do just that.

How did Stoll get suspended while Torres walks away? Ridiculous! The NHL can't get anything right.

From what I've read, behind the net is a "hitting zone" where I higher level of awareness is expected on the part of the player being hit. Head down going into that area is not considered the hitter's fault.

If it'd been open ice, it would have been a suspension.

What I initially said does ring true though. They are having trouble with the 8th place seed (though it seems most of the higher seeds are having trouble as well). Just because I or anyone else states an opinion about the Canucks having trouble, doesn't mean they are automatically Canuck Bashing.

Them being up 3-0 in the series doesn't exactly count as them having trouble... The played a sold first game and shut down the Hawks in the 3rd period. The second game was more of the same...

The third game was close, but they still managed to come out with a away win.

If anyone's having trouble, it's Boston. I hope those ***ker's choke! I'd lose no sleep if Chara had an aneurysm from having been swept in the first round.

I think the reason Torres didn't get suspended was the fact
Seabrook got right up and took his next shift.

Amazing, maybe they figure they owe the Canucks one for the Tanev hit by Clifford.

Regardless,Vigneault has to clue Torres in or even sit him and put Hodgsen in instead.

Should be a dandy game and as much as I'd like a sweep of the Hawks,I'm not sure having a lot of time in between series is what the Canucks need.

Especially since the others look to be going to seven games.

And the answer is: no further disciplinary measures.

said by tsn.ca story :
Vancouver Canucks forward Raffi Torres will have no further discipline assessed following his hit on Blackhawks' defenceman Brent Seabrook during Game 3 of their series on Sunday night.

There was no scheduled hearing with the league on Monday. The NHL's Hockey Operations department said that the rule did not violate Rule 48, which states in part that the area behind the net is designated as a "hitting area".
Story on tsn.ca

I'd watch for an equally questionable, or worse, hit on a star from Vancouver in the next game. Retribution comes in many forms.

I concur... I'm hoping he get's another suspension... No need for targeting the head of Seabrook....

WRONG – no suspension at all.. hard hit from a checker… on a player who should have been more aware of his situational when behind the net.

said by FaxCap:

Torres, will be suspended again and deserves it. Just plain f*cking
STUPID hit.

no suspension at all..I do agree with your Sedin rant, he’s playing soft but still setting up plays.

said by JBear:

On TSN last night Kerry Fraser said Torres should expext 8 games for that hit!

Psst 8 games... If it was open ice maybe.. but this was behind the crease! It was shoulder contact, no elbow.. I wouldn’t take squat from Mr. Kerry (Blown Call) Fraser.

A checking line player, catching a threat player with his head down behind the crease?? This isn't Bantam and Seabrooke shouldn't have put him self in that position! If you lose situational awareness you should pay the consequence.

said by vue666:

Torres should've gotten a 5 minute penalty.... Hawks were robbed....

LOL Hawks were practically given the game in the first by the terrible 1 sided officiating, they couldn’t capitalize.

said by JBear:

Vancouver, despite being up 3-0 in the series, doesn't look as strong as many people think they are. Either game could've gone either way and this is against a weak and depleted Chicago team. My guess is they won't make it to the final.

You must have been watching another series..

Why don't you Easterners give it a rest................instead of enjoying the success of a Western team and actually supporting the only other Canadian team in the playoffs, all I see is this BS.

Sharks,Ducks and Bruins are all in tough series, but I don't see any negativity towards them.

Oversensitive a bit? I'm actually from the west... Hey, I have to give the Canucks the praise they deserve, but being from a rival NW division city I want the Canucks to lose for many reasons... one of them is we (Edmontonians) would never hear the end of it from the Canuck fans here (and there are a lot of them living here). Reason #2 is because all of my family-in-law are all Canuck's fans. I am supporting Montreal though, so 1 out of 2 isn't bad.

I want the Sharks, ducks, bruins to lose.

Robert, I hope you're right. It'd be good to see a competitive Central division. Seems Nashville is headed in the right direction as well.

And yes, the 'Hawks didn't manage their salary well. I mean it got them a cup, but that's the only one they are going

No, Dale (or one of his staff) forgetting to put put offer sheets in on time forced the hawks to spend more. And they have a solid core so I suspect they will pull a detroit and reload for a run every couple of years.
