Last year, there was the I'm-not-under-pressure-so-I'll-just-do-my-thing Brian Elliott, who played well enough to earn a contract as a walk-on and then an all-star game berth, and deserved it for the numbers he was putting up. Right now, we see the the other one, who crumples under pressure like he did when Pascal Leclaire went down with an injury and he was forced into a starting role. The Blues had better pray that Halak's injury won't keep him out more than a few games.
The trade for Anderson couldn't look better.

(edit = added last sentence) Anderson is awesome. I recall when he was with the Avs and he stood on his head in a playoff series against the Sharks....
However the Blues can not fault Elliott for their recent string of losses. I've watched all Blues games to date except for the season opener against the Red Wings.
The Blues just don't look as sharp or intense as they did earlier.... Sure Elliott was to blame for a goal or two but there hasn't been much in support for him...
Bernie Federko (Blues commentary on tv broadcasts) blames it on the inexperience of the Blues...
It is an hurtle for the young team & adversity will only make you stronger... Too much talent on the Blues for them to remain in this funk...
The Blues goal scoring is medicore at even strength but deadly when on the pp... |

The Columbus Blue Jackets have relieved general manager Scott Howson of his duties. The timing of this one I do not get, it's not like Columbus is sucking on toast so far this season. If Howson was to be let go I would have done it after last season.
Then again the ownership of Columbus makes the Ballard era Maple Leafs look good so I dunno...

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Columbus Blue Jackets hurried to make history.
Just more than 24 hours after firing Scott Howson, they announced the hiring of Jarmo Kekalainen of Finland as the first European to be a general manager in the National Hockey League.
