I hope this kids is as good in Junior as he has been in Bantam!

The consensus No. 1 choice is Edmonton centre Tyler Benson, who
had 146 points in 33 regular-season games as a bantam this past season.

Maybe a few years from now the Canucks will draft a Vancouver Giant!

He looks like a good draft.

It's amazing to see the Giants fall so fast, when they were one of the best teams in the WHL if not the best a few years ago.

A similar fates awaits the Canucks in the next couple of years....my friends accuse me of being a fickle fan,but I'm not watching this team through rose colored glasses............mark my words,Canucks will be a bottom ranked team in the next few years.

And it may help as we can get some better draft picks to rebuild.

Here's an interesting stat: which team is the best bargain?

It's basically a measure of salary spending vs points earned, and how much each point is costing in terms of cap spending. The amount will go down as more points are earned, but it's interesting to see Anaheim ahead of Chicago even though the Hawks have more points because the Ducks have a lower payroll.

Does the stat really mean anything? Sure....about as much as +/- does.

What a game in Anaheim! Great back & forth match. Thought the hawks were going to walk away with 2 points, the bam they blow a tire. Rematch 29 march.

AHL teams, Hershey Bears to play the Syracuse Crunch are to play a game at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC (rink where Capitals play home games).

The last time the Bears played one of their home games at the Verizon Center - Dec. 6, 2012 against the Norfolk Admirals the rink was a sellout of 18,506 fans...

Stupid Oilers blew a 2 goal lead in the third and Sharks won in shoot-out. But hey - the kids are just 3 points back from 8th in the west so there is hope.

I have faith.

Re: [Hockey] Official~ NHL thread...........scores and highlites

(I had a look at this in the TML thread in response to a question, so I thought I'd do it for all the Canada-based NHL teams)

In a normal 82 game season, 94 point is roughly what you need to get into the playoffs (.573 winning percentage). In a 48 game season like this year, a .573 win percentage translates to 55 points.

Montreal: 19 games remaining, 43 points, need 12 points or 0.631 points per game
Ottawa: 18 games remaining, 38 points, need 17 points or 0.944 points per game
Vancouver: 19 games remaining, 34 points, need 21 points or 1.105 points per game
Toronto: 18 games remaining, 34 points, need 21 points or 1.167 points per game
Winnipeg: 18 games remaining, 34 points, need 21 points or 1.167 points per game
Edmonton: 19 games remaining, 29 points, need 26 points or 1.368 points per game
Calgary: 21 games remaining, 26 points, need 29 points or 1.380 points per game

Penguins pickup Douglas Murray from the Sharks...

I thought he was one of the players the Sharks would never part with. He is an imposing bloke on the blueline...

Backes, Oshie, Stewart and few other Blues won't get bounced around as much next time my beloved Blues tangle with the Sharks...
