Re: [Hockey] Official~ NHL thread...........scores and highlites
the Blues GM said the other day they will work out a deal and the Pietrangelo would be a Blue...it sounds like he was just trying to get the best price he could (which is certainly his job to do)...he had no intention of not signing him...honestly, i liked his comments.
It would be blacked out here on Sportsnet (which I don't get anyways with my basic cable) but it showed on four different NHLCI channels, all of which gave me the "you don't subscribe" message. Oh well... It's only preseason.
So they've got the big 3 signed for the next 6 yrs at least...........wonder how they'll do this year? -- Sarcasm is the body's natural defense against stupidity.
Re: [Hockey] Official~ NHL thread...........scores and highlites
NY Islanders vs NJ Devils last night....a rough one. Lots of fights but you gotta see this one. Gallant vs Barch. Round one was very very close but Barch got in a very late uppercut that looked to drop Gallant to his knees.
Watch the beginning of the 2nd fight when they drop the gloves Barch goes to take his helmet off but remembers it's now a penalty. The 2 of them then take each others helmet off! Honour among warriors.
I wonder if they're going to announced a dozen other outdoor games. I was talking to a friend of mine the other week and he was talking about getting tickets to the outdoor game in Vancouver. I was ranting on about how it probably won't be an outdoor game, but a way to sell 50000 tickets to a hockey game instead of 20000. Then he ask me if the Red Wings got an outdoor game this year, and I had to tell him that they have the real one on New Years.. lol...

i loved the helmet move...i wonder if the NHL will modify the rules because of that "loophole"? -- People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.
didn't put it on last year because of the shortened season.....this is a great pool to enter. -- Sarcasm is the body's natural defense against stupidity.
Who are the idiots that came up with bonehead rule...................tuck the jersey in or get a penalty?
Had to be buttman's brain fart.
No, Reebok brain fart. Yes that's right. Reebok wants their logo out in the open and not tucked into a hockey pant. YES, you are correct! The NHL is calling a penalty, thereby effecting a change in gameplay, at the whim of a sponsor.
Ok, may this was Bettman's brain fart. No respect for the game. -- I'm a man, but I can change. If I have to. I guess.
That's an interesting theory, but there is no logo at the bottom of the new Reebok sweaters -- it's up at the top, just below the neckline. It was the old CCM sweaters that had the logo on the hemline.
Can you just imagine some power tripping ref calling one of these moronic penalties with 2 minutes left in a close game..........there'd be a riot. -- Sarcasm is the body's natural defense against stupidity.

Well, then, what exactly is the point?
Could we be heading towards European style uniforms?
quote:The bigger question, though, is whether there actually is a point, beyond the given "enforce one uniform rule, enforce them all" rationalespecifically, whether it's all a precursor to placing ads on the parts of jerseys that were once tucked.
If that were to happen anytime soon, all this will seem pretty silly. It's doubtful that it'd be totally forgotten, though. Pro (and college) sports are big businesses, and revenue is revenue. Just be honest about itlike the NBA.
